John Goschke’s AMT 1/25 '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe Hot Rod: Circa 1959-1960
Built from an early issue of kit originally issued in 1960. The early versions of this kit include some unique parts not present in later issues, including the short exhaust headers and stock-style valve covers for the optional Buick engine, adding an authentic vintage look to the car.
The six carbs are from a Monogram hot rod kit, and are mounted on the intake manifold from an AMT '36 Ford kit.
'39 Ford taillights are from the AMT '40 Ford Tudor kit and the DeSoto-style bumpers are from the AMT '40 Ford sedan delivery kit.
The interior has been modified in period style with a custom horizontal roll and pleat pattern scribed into the kit seat and a '49 Mercury steering wheel.
The exterior has been cleaned up by shaving the door handles, nosing the hood and decking the trunk.
Tamiya Racing White scallops have been airbrushed over the Champagne Gold Metallic base color.
Bare Metal Foil trim rings have been added to the Tamiya Bright Red kit wheels.
