Happy Holidays to everyone out there in
styrene land.
Here’s hoping that Santa brings you all the Kits, tools supplies that
your little heart desires.
What a great time this is.The weather is crisp and cold. Did you ever
notice that the air smells cleaner in the winter? Currently there is some snow
on the ground. There is a festive holiday spirit everywhere you look and the
Department stores are into the third month with the decorations up. In about 3
weeks they‘ll have the swim suits on display. Great, I can’t wait.
Now we all know that we never get any modeling supplies for gifts
because no one but model builders has any clue what we are talking about.
“What’s an Iwata Micron C?” “Where do you get Slixx stuff from? Something for
those little cars/planes/army men you play with?” AAAAARGGH!!!!
Did you ever notice that when you talk to the less initiated about
model building that you get the dog look? You know the look where the other
persons head tilts to one side like a puppy that just heard something it can’t
identify. Then after spending hours explaining the difficulties you had building
a project. Identifying you how scratch build a kanooter valve, created opening
thing-a-ma-bobs with operating what’s-its, creating a best of show winning piece
using stolen…er…borrowed blue prints from Area 51 with nothing more than tin
foil, bubble gum, and popsicle sticks that actually runs, flies, floats or
whatever, you get the always ego deflating “ Oh isn’t that CUTE.”
CUTE?…CUTE? What the hell is CUTE? Models are not cute! They may be;
neat, nice, great, cool, awesome, etc.., but they are never EVER cute! GOT IT?
NUFF SAID!!
Please be careful out there on the roads this holiday season. There are a
lot of MORONS on the road. I mean here in the People’s Republic of New Jersey a
law abiding citizen can not carry a firearm for his/her own protection without
an act of GOD. No, not true. Around here God would still need the permission of
some judge. Anyway, we can’t protect ourselves but the State will put almost any
mouth breathing, window licking, knuckle dragger behind the wheel of a 3,500 lb
missile. Oh, and let’s not get started about the senior drivers. Why is it that
every old man who is driving like he’s got no clue is always in a Buick?
Occasionally an Olds, but usually a Buick. How come as people get older they buy
bigger cars? We’ve all seen the little blue hair, whose only sight line is
between the top of the dash board and the steering wheel, driving a mid-eighties
Lincoln Town Car or a Cadillac.
You know why there are so many seniors in Fla.? It’s not the weather.
It’s because they made a wrong turn somewhere and that’s where they ended up.
They ran out of road and just set up camp.
Now for those ignorant individuals who have their cell phone
permanently attached to the side of their heads I say: HANG UP THE FREAKIN’
PHONE AND DRIVE THE DAMN CAR!!! Trust me you are not that important that you
need to reached at that particular moment. If it is a life or death emergency
then pull over. At least go hands free people. That way at least you not trying
to keep that little micro mini cell phone stuck between your shoulder and your
ear. I mean the only way that’s going to work is if you’re a Munchkin or an
Oompa Loompa.
Another thing to remember is that the left hand lane is called the
PASSING lane, not the parade lane. These morons crawl along out there in the
fast lane until they remember they need to make that right hand turn just ahead
and all of a sudden its turn 4 at Darlington and this idiot needs to get to the
pits now.
Seriously though, when the weather gets bad, please slow down. Take
your time and get there alive. You are not Pro Rally drivers. Even those of you
who allegedly used to be Rally drivers need to realize that your eyesight ain’t
what it used to be and you may have lost those cat like reflexes. (If you ever
really had them). Well, that’s all for now. I want to wish everyone a wonderful
holiday and a happy new year. Here’s hoping that one of Santa’s Reindeer don’t
take a flying dump on the hood of your car.
Now go build something and remember...
IT”S JUST A FREAKIN’ HOBBY!!!
That’s all for this month. See ya next time. Now go forth and build something!
